The Star

The Star is a short story based in futrue about space explorers. The main point of the story isn't the point of exploring, it raises the topic of religion vs. science. For these explorers the mission that they set out for was to reach the Phonex Nebula and visit the remanats of a supernova and research why it happens throughout the universe. While there they found a small planet which was a shock amoungst the crew of the ship. When they land on the planet they find out that it resembles earth. Amongst the crew members there is a Jesuit priest whom questions his beliefs in God. He wonders why God would do this to people? Even some of the crew memebers begin to question there own religon. Throughout the universe there are many suns that explore and everytime there will be a race or species that die. At the end of the short story its like he is fighting with himself saying "why would a god do this to his own?" but then he come back saying "God has no need to justify His action to man."
